Brisbane February 2013

We’re excited about ALIA Information Online 2013! For the first time this premier event for information professionals in the Asia Pacific will be held in Brisbane at the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre.  The Centre is located at South Bank  where the idyllic Queensland environment is seamlessly integrated with the cafes, restaurants, boutiques and cultural experiences that have come to characterise an inner-city lifestyle.”  Coming to InfoOnline 2013?  We’d love to hear why – send a post, a vodcast, whatever you like.  ALIA Information Online -the not to be missed event of 2013!    Be Different, Do Different.

Call for proposals now available here!

We’ve added the call for proposals to our blog – you can find it on the Contribute page.

If you’re ready to submit, jump straight to our speakers’ portal.

Thanks for your patience as we work on issues with the Information Online website. We’ll keep you up-to-date here and via Twitter.

Call for proposals deadline extended to 20 August

Proposal submissions have been rolling in and we are excited by the different topics and approaches you’ve proposed.

Amongst the fabulous proposals, we’ve also had a number of requests to extend the deadline. We know we’re asking you to provide a richer, more developed proposal than you might be used to with a traditional call for abstracts. With this in mind, we have juggled dates and deadlines around and we’re happy to announce an extension to the call for proposals deadline.

We will accept new proposals up til 20 August. And if you’ve already made your submission, you can edit your proposal up to this date, too.

So hop to it! Check out the call for proposals requirements now and start shaping your proposal.

Be different. Do different.

In 2013, Information Online is packing up and heading north to the river city. And she’s bringing the New Librarians’ Symposium (NLS6) along for the ride! For one fantastic week in February, Brisbane will see an influx of information professionals both new and seasoned for a week packed full of professional development and networking opportunities.

A different venue

For the very first time, Information Online will be held outside of Sydney, at Brisbane’s Convention and Exhibition Centre. NLS6 will take place over two days leading into Information Online.

A different committee

After many, many years of tireless work on Information Online, the majority of the Online committee has moved on and we have a bunch of fresh faces on board for 2013.

A different program

We’re shaking things up! Get ready for a different conference experience and a new approach to programming.

A different call for contributions

We’ll be calling for session proposals, not abstracts, and we’re tightening up the timeline. We’ll have a call for proposals out by the end of March, so start thinking about what you’re going to submit.

Two very different events

Information Online and NLS6 will be events unlike any you’ve seen before!

Help us be different

We invite you to tell us what you want to see in Brisbane next February. What is Information Online to you? New graduates and students, what does NLS mean for you? This is your first opportunity to get involved in shaping these events. Share your thoughts in the comments!
